I was reading some interesting articles this morning on new scientific research that shows how thymus health is linked to a longer life and lower risks of cardiovascular disease and lung cancer.
Holistic health practitioners, such as I am, understand this link, as we work with the whole body, mind, emotional map of a person – and know the importance of health across all aspects of an individual's being. Certainly in reflexology we work the thymus reflex as we do all reflexes, and we see the thymus as very important as it forms part of both the endocrine system and the lymph system. In the Earthing & Balancing treatment that I offer which prioritises grounding as well as endocrine and vagus nerve health I focus further on the thymus reflexes and I also encourage my clients to tap their thymus area daily to help stimulate a vitality in that region.
When we are in our mother’s womb one of the first glands to develop is the thymus gland and T-cells are made there before birth. The thymus gland is associated with the function of the immune system and also contains the unique pattern for your DNA. It is known as a bridge between the emotion and intellect and also associated with forgiveness, compassion, and a release of fear. The thymus chakra is sometimes called the higher heart chakra due to its position in the upper chest.
Allopaths (those working in conventional medicine) have long considered the thymus becomes mainly irrelevant after a person ages and the T-cells it produced have been used, with very few new ones being made as one gets older. However, now with this new information appearing in two new studies gathered from the data of thousands of patients allopaths are seeing that the thymus plays a far more consequential role in adult health than they previously understood.
It is always encouraging to see more meeting places of holistic health and allopathy develop, and so very interesting to read robust data.
You can read a Harvard Medical School article which links to the studies here:
